Bell, California council to consider closing authority-owned mobile home park, with $40 million cost estimate

Why this matters: our read

What stands out is that the owner closing this park is a housing authority. With 115 spaces occupied, the October 14 vote is the one to follow.

The City of Bell, California, will consider on October 14 whether to approve a relocation impact report and closure of Bell Mobile Home Park, a 151-space park at 4874 Gage Avenue owned by the Bell Community Housing Authority. The report says 115 spaces are occupied. The city’s news page also calls the property Gage Mobile Home Park. The city’s page says the report was open for 60 days of public comment and review.

The report was prepared under California’s Mobile Home Residency Law, Government Code section 65863.7 and Civil Code section 798.56, as amended by AB 2782. It estimates the cost of acquiring dwellings and relocating all households at $40 million, including a 20 percent contingency, and describes the figure as an estimate.

The report proposes that each mobile home owner receive a 42-month space rent differential payment if replacement space rent is higher. Its timetable has six-month written notice to vacate in November or December 2026, relocation from November 2026 through June 2027, and closure by the end of June 2027. It says no redevelopment of the site has been approved and names no buyer or sale price.
