Manufactured housing community news for owners and operators. Subscribe to The Rent Roll

About Land Lease Report

Land Lease Report reads the manufactured housing community industry news so you do not have to. Each weekday an editor goes through agency and legislature records, court filings, company announcements, public-company filings and trade-press reporting, picks what matters to people who own, run, finance and live in manufactured housing communities, and writes it up in our own words. Every item says why it matters and links to whoever reported it first.

Every Monday morning the best of the week arrives in one email, The Rent Roll. It is written for owners and operators of manufactured housing communities, community managers, lenders and brokers, home retailers and builders, and resident and tenant advocates.

What this is, and what it is not

This is a trade publication. We cover the business and the rules: what a rent-stabilization law does to a community’s income, what a lender’s program change does to an acquisition, what a closure notice requirement does to a redevelopment. We do not publish home-buying advice, listings, lifestyle features or “best mobile home parks” lists. Other sites do that and they are written for buyers and renters.

Where we cover

Land-lease communities are a North American trade with state and provincial law at its centre. Canada has its own section at /region/canada/, because tenancy and land-lease rules differ by province, and every story says which state or province’s law applies.

Who edits it

Land Lease Report is edited and published by Christopher Ross, a Canadian web practitioner based in Fort Erie, Ontario, who runs thisismyurl.com. The editor is accountable for what runs here.

The publisher’s own business advertises on this site; see interests we disclose. Stories where residents and owners are in dispute report both sides and say who is a party.

How it works

We use software to help read and sort the day’s news and to check drafts against their sources. Every story is checked against its sources and against our written standards before it is published, and the checks it has to pass depend on what kind of story it is. We do not publish unchecked machine output.
